Interview
Your second Gold Medal at the 2006 X-Games after your first title in 2003?
On the race day at X-Games it first felt super bad on the training run; nothing worked! But when the race started, it all changed; I had never been more motivated than that! I really wanted to win and it felt like nothing could stop me; it was a nice feeling! My final run was the best run of the season for me; everything worked out! When I passed the finish line it was like a dream for me, unbelievable… I just can’t describe that great feeling.
You description of the X-Games competition?
It’s so cool there! There are so many good riders; It’s incredible how many people there are there to watch! There are so many cool events to watch there. When we have some free time, we just go and watch the other competitions. I love it!! It’s the major competition because it has the best riders, best crowd, best courses and best prize money.
Your vision of the Saab Salomon Crossmax International Series you already won 3 times?
I don’t really know why the Crossmax Series has been working so well for me, but one thing is that I always have so much fun when I do these races! I like the courses a lot and I like to race 6 by 6!
Your opinion on the FIS World Cup Circuit?
The FIS circuit has been ok, except for the bad courses! But they have been working a lot with the courses the last season and It’s getting better. For me, I prefer the Crossmax Series Circuit; it has better courses and a much more fun atmosphere!
Your skiing career?
In 1978, I travelled to Are with my family; It’s there that my career began: joined the ski club at the age of 6, then competition until the age of 16. Then, I entered the Ski Academy. In 1993, I was selected for the Junior National Team then became the Junior Champion of Sweden in Super-G, GS and combined in 1994. Afterwards, I was on the European Cup until 2000 before participating in my first Skier-X event in 2001 (Apocalypse Snow). I was unleashed; I had never had so much fun on skis!
Your other passion: car races?
I already race in a small series in Sweden and it has been working really well! It’s perfect that I can do this in the summer and do Skier-X in the winter. It has a lot in common. If It’s working well and I can find sponsorship money, I will probably spend more and more time on the race track in the summer.
Your home?
Today, I live in an apartment in Stockholm with my girlfriend Lisa. In the summertime, I try to spend as much time as possible at sea on our boat.
