SOELDEN WORLD CUP OPENING

Romed Bauman achieved a superb perfomance taking 7th in the first Giant Slalom of the season in Soelden, Austria.Hard snow and blue sky have welcomed the best World Cup’s  athletes for the winter opening, launched with the women’s GS on Saturday. Austrian Kathrin Zettel  has won the race in front of more than 15 000 fans while swiss star Daniel Albrecht set the fastest time in the men’s competition.
Salomon new comer and austrian up-coming star Romed Bauman skied close to perfection in the second run to come back from 11th to 7th place, his best ever result in Giant Slalom. His Salomon team-mates Alberto Schieppati achieved also a great season’s start, taking a good 14th while Davide Simoncelli ended up in 18th thanks a superb secon run.
Romed Bauman, who just joined the Salomon team this spring, is already an impressive all-round skier with several top 15 in all disciplins. Living close to Kitzbühel, Romed dreams of winning the World Cup Overall and wants «to push my limits and ski as fast as possible. He has chosen Salomon to reach his dreams with total confidence in his new equipment : « from my first test with Salomon I felt comfortable on the new equipment and the atmosphere made a great impression on me. The equipment is easy to handle so I can focus on my technique and the course, and I don’t have to think what my skies are going to do next!”
Next men’s and women’s races will take place in Levi, the 14th and 15th of November, with a night slalom. Salomon new comers Veronika Zuzulova, 3rd in the slalom Overall ranking last year and slalom great champion Giorgo Rocca, the 2006 crystal globe winner, will be among the great favorites.
